DeepTech startup developing electric motors that deliver BLDC-level efficiency at the fraction of the cost without using rare-earth materials. The company will supply leading HVAC and appliance OEMS in India. The company's proprietary Slip Synchronous Permanent Magnet (SSPM) motors achieve 90% efficiency, matching premium BLDC motors, while being 40-50% cheaper and 100% locally sourced. Pre-seed round of an undisclosed amount. Founded in Aug 2023, Ahmedabad based. Founders Suyash (IIT Bombay) and Gajendra were founders of Naxatra Labs.
Energy storage startup building iron-air long duration energy storage (LDES) systems. Its batteries are designed for 16-24 hours of storage, supporting round-the-clock renewable energy storage. An iron-air battery uses inexpensive and abundant iron as the anode and oxygen as the cathode. It is still in a pilot phase around the world. The company operates from a 5,000 square foot facility in Chennai, which will be used for pilot production. $750K pre-seed round. Other investors in the round: gradCapital, AIC-AU Incubation Foundation. Founded in Mar 2022, Chennai based. Founders: Priyansh worked in his family-run fruit exports business; Stuti is ex-BCG and was an Antler India EIR.
Enables the circular economy for the silica industry. Through a proprietary chemical process, the company produces sustainable silica from rice husk ash, a residue left by power plants which process rice husk generated as agricultural waste. Operates a facility with a capacity of 400 tonnes per month, will scale to 3-5K tonnes per month. Silica is traditionally produced by using high quantities of river sand and quartz, which causes high greenhouse emissions. ₹3CR pre-seed round. Founded in Aug 2016, Vadodara based. Founder Tanmay (IIT BHU '09) founded Bridgedots (2011-16), a research startup for clients in CleanTech and waste.
